American Andy Roddick lost his composure and temper last night and eventually the match in the second-round at the US Open.

Serbia's Janko Tipsaveric beat Roddick in 4 sets 3-6 7-5 6-3 7-6(4) to advance to the third round.

This second-round defeat is Roddick's worst Grand Slam performance since 2008 when he lost in the second-round at Wimbledon, again at the hands of Tipsaveric.

“He was in a groove,” Roddick said during a news conference. “He was taking risky cuts at the ball and it seemed like all of them were dropping.”

Roddick lost his composure when foot-faulted during the third set and in scenes reminiscent of last year when Serena Williams found herslef in a similar situation, Roddick vented frustration at the lines-woman.

Roddick regained composure but this was not to be his night and Tipsaveric carved out the win with accurate shot-making.
