Yen-Hsun Lu ousts Hewitt at Indian Wells
Former world number one Lleyton Hewitt has suffered a first round 6-2 6-3 loss to Yen-Hsun Lu at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
Hewitt was the first big-name casualty at this year’s tournament, although at 21 places below Yen-Hsun Lu in the rankings, the result is not a huge surprise.
Chinese Taipei Yen-Hsun took advantage of the Australian's poor service games, with Hewitt managing only a 45% first service rate and winning just four points on his second serve.
In other matches, veteran American James Blake battled from behind after losing the first set to score a 3-6 6-3 6-2 win over another Australian, Chris Guccione.
Rising star Milos Raonic advanced, along with Nikolay Davydenko and Julien Benneteau.
