Rising German star Goerges scored her second successive win over Wozniacki after securing a shock victory over the Danish player in their last meeting in the Stuttgart final just over a week ago.
Wozniacki was out-hit in the third round encounter and could not contain the power on display from Goerges with the German player hitting 36 winners compared to just 11 from the Dane.
With Goerges taking the first set with some confident play, a repeat of her win in Stuttgart appeared to be on the cards but Wozniacki showed her fighting and defensive qualities in the second to comfortably take it 6-1 and force a decider.
The more experienced Wozniacki was not able to continue at that level of play in the third, producing a few uncharacteristic groundstroke errors at crucial points towards the latter end of the final set which Goerges capitalised on.
22-year-old Goerges kept on the offensive and returned Wozniacki's high defensive balls with power and precision into the corners of the court and confidently serve out the match to love in just over the two hour mark.
Goerges will now go on to face the winner of the third round clash between Anastasia Pavlyuchenko of Russia and 5th seed Samantha Stosur of Australia in the next round.
