The third seed was in no mood to be held up in his progress and from the start of the match set about dismantling his opponents’ game. Frenchman Teixeira had no answer to Federer's precision play.
The former world number one won 13 consecutive games as he confidently won through and sent a signal to the rest of the French Open field that he is not to be dismissed as a contender this year.
"It is so hard to play on a big court when you're not used to it. I think Max did a good match. He fought well," said Federer after the match.
Teixeira reflected: "It was an incredible experience. Playing against Roger is something I will never forget. I did what I could."
Federer won 6-3 6-0 6-2 in one hour and 24 minutes and will next face 29th seed Janko Tipsaveric of Serbia in the third round. Tipsaveric was also a comfortable straight-sets winner with a 6-1 6-3 6-0 over Spaniard Pere Riba.
