Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray through to third round
Defending champion Rafael Nadal and fourth seed Andy Murray are both through to the third round of Wimbledon after securing victories on Wednesday.
Top-seed Nadal was in impressive form as he crushed his American opponent Ryan Sweeting with a straight-sets 6-3 6-2 6-4 win.
69th-ranked Sweeting had no answer to the Spaniard's thunderous looping groundstrokes and offered little resistance to the world number one.
"I played well. I had the match under control at 2-1, 40-0 in the third set but then made a few mistakes," said Nadal after the match.
"This is the best court in the world. It's a pleasure always to play here.
Nadal now goes on to face Gilles Muller in the third round after Muller's Canadian opponent Milos Raonic retired after suffering an injury in their second round match.
Britain's Andy Murray joins Nadal in the third round after he defeated Tobias Kamke of Germany in three sets 6-3 6-3 7-5.
The British number one needed one hour and 57 minutes to see off the challenge of Kamke with the German player never really troubling Murray.
Kamke managed to reach 5-5 in the third set but then gifted Murray a break when he double-faulted to go 5-6 down and in a flash Murray had served out the match to reach the third round where Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic awaits.
"I served well but the rest of my game needs work," Murray told BBC Sport. "It was quite tricky and windy out there.
"I need to use my legs better. I felt I was a bit upright and I need to be quicker on my feet to get in the right positions to hit the ball, especially when it is windy like it was today."
