Disappointingly empty stadium.

It's been empty all week especially in the early part of the day, Estoril was worse, there was literally 20 people watching all week

Sourena 5-1 up already, this really isn't going to be close

Not wanting to sound too much like Anabel Croft but Maria is so intimidated.

As long as you don't dress like Anabel it's not a problem, skin tight leather trousers are not a good look

Really thought this would be close, Maria number 2 in the world, having just beaten Yelpa inoors on clay.
Fabulous performance from Sourena

Maria really should have held there... let herself down big time with 3 DFs. Fightback ends there alas.

Another comfortable win for Serena. She was outstanding in the second half of the first set.

Poor Maria

I don't like Sourena but boy is she a good player...

The Masha drubbings by Serena continue

It would be interesting to have a Sonarenka v Swearena final - that would be the actual no.1 against the 'real' no.1 (which is how I'm sure Serena views it )

Yes.

They both played some sizzling stuff actually... but when they were in trouble, Serena had a go-to serve, Maria had a go-haywire serve.

I missed the first set but it sounds like it is worth catching up on when it appears online. Second set was tighter than the scoreline suggested I thought, but Serena's serve was magnificent at the crunch times.

I should have had more faith in a Serena victory!
