Thanks for doing the number crunching Mojo...much appreciated

Also, I'm away for a few days to New York during the French. I trust I can count on you to pick up my slack while I'm in the Big Apple...please

Will do.

I don't know what's up with me and booking holidays during the Slams this year

Anabel Medina Garrigues (ESP) d. Jie Zheng (CHN) 62 61
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (RUS) d. Ksenia Pervak (KAZ) 62 64

[12] Nicolas Almagro (ESP) d. Marin Cilic (CRO) 62 36 60
Radek Stepanek (CZE) d. Juan Ignacio Chela (ARG) 26 60 63

First day and who's a bit rusty on the clay?

Quite a spread of scores! BigAl is off to a flier and Nevets has some catching up to do but all to play for. Everyone but the system got Benesova beating Wickmayer in 3 sets. Special mention to Big Al who got a full house in the 4 valid men's matches
viva did the best in the women's matches but faded badly in the men's

Scores:
1 Big Al 17
2 Fah 14
3= Dark, mojo, sfp(1) 12
6 viva 11
7 Nevets 8

Very good of you to give me a retrospective system. Wasn't expecting that and was prepared to have to play catch up. My fault for not loggging on for a few days and realising a Rome prediction competition was on.

Re: Rome Predictions - Results 16 May 2012 12:29 #24190

Tuesday Results:

WTA
[2] Maria Sharapova (RUS) d. Christina Mchale (USA) 75 75
[4] Petra Kvitova (CZE) d. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (RUS) 75 64
Flavia Pennetta (ITA) d. [16] Maria Kirilenko (RUS) 61 76(2)
[WC] Venus Williams (USA) d. Simona Halep (ROU) 63 64
Sorana Cirstea (ROU) d. [15] Jelena Jankovic (SRB) 63 46 76(4)

ATP
[4] Andy Murray (GBR) d. David Nalbandian (ARG) 61 46 75
[1] Novak Djokovic (SRB) d. Bernard Tomic (AUS) 63 63
[6] David Ferrer (ESP) d. Fernando Verdasco (ESP) 63 76(3)
[5] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) d. Viktor Troicki (SRB) 63 62
Juan Carlos Ferrero (ESP) d. [13] Gael Monfils (FRA) 75 63

Equal or better scoring for everyone on day 2
I managed to follow Big Al's 'full house' in the men's on day 1, with my own 'full house' in the men's on day 2, which helps propel me to the top of the leaderboard
I was helped by being the only person to pick Ferrero beating Monfils in straights. Everyone got 3-points courtesy of Djokovic, Sharapova and Kvitova.

Tuesday Scores:
1 mojo 25
2= Fah, sfp(system for 2 scores), viva 19
5 Big Al 17
6= Dark, Nevets 16

Overall:
1 mojo 37
2 Big Al 34
3 Fah 33
4 sfp(1.2) 31
5 viva 30
6 Dark 28
7 Nevets 24

Wednesday Results:

WTA
[WC] Venus Williams (USA) d. Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) 76(7) 61
[1] Victoria Azarenka (BLR) d. S Peer (ISR) 61 62
Petra Cetkovska (CZE) d. [3] Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) 64 46 61
[5] Samantha Stosur (AUS) v Sara Errani (ITA) 63 75
Julia Goerges (GER) d. [7] Marion Bartoli (FRA) 63 61

ATP
[10] Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG) v Mikhail Youzhny (RUS) 64 62
Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI) d. [8] Janko Tipsarevic (SRB) 63 61
[3] Roger Federer (SUI) d. Carlos Berlocq (ARG) 63 64
[14] Juan Monaco (ARG) d. Radek Stepanek (CZE) 64 62
Andreas Seppi (ITA) d. [9] John Isner (USA) 26 76(5) 75

Another high scoring day

I take the daily win for a second day and extend my lead, helped by being the only person to pick Goerges' straight sets win over the woman with that bizarre service action. It is peculiar that I seem to do better when running the competition (and it's not because of the maths, I do double-check the scores)
I think it has something to do with the maths indirectly though - because I am in a more analytical frame of mind I seem to be more inclined go with head rather than heart. When viva's running the comp I seem to go more with heart and seem to go with more maverick picks just for the hell of it!

Everyone got 3-points thanks to Fed and Sonarenka, although that's the end of her as she withdrew from the tournament afterwards
Otherwise, scoring was fairly consistent with the major discrepancies being over whether Stosur and Monaco would win in 2 or 3 sets, although viva's maverick pick of Macaroni over Venus cost him
Nobody predicted the demise of Isner or Pushwanska

Did anyone else spot that Fah's and Dark's predictions were exactly the same? Dark, seeing that you posted your picks half an hour after Fah, I am watching you!

NL has come late to this competition and I have offered to do an extra system for him as long as noone else objects (see the Wednesday predictions thread), otherwise I will give NL systems for Tuesday and Wednesday and nothing for Monday. The scores below include 3 systems - let me know if you think this is unfair

Wednesday Scores:
1 mojo 21
2 Dark, Fah 19
3 sfp 16
4= Big Al, Nevets(system), NL(system) 15
7 viva 10

Overall:
1 mojo 58
2 Fah 52
3 Big Al 49
4= Dark, sfp(1.2) 47
6 NL(3) 46
7 viva 40
8 Nevets 39
